Shalane Flanagan

 University of North Carolina

Shalane Flanagan NCAA cross country champion Shalane Flanagan is unsurpassable on the track. This season, she became the first woman in University of North Carolina history to win the NCAA title, running 6,000 meters in 19:36. She swept the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) by 12 seconds in 20:06.3, and became the second woman ever to earn three consecutive ACC titles. It is no surprise that this college junior was named NCAA Cross Country Coaches Athlete of the Year for the second time. Honda is pleased to present Shalane with the Honda Award for being the Most Outstanding Collegiate Woman Athlete in Cross Country for 2002-2003.
