University of North Carolina senior Shalane Flanagan, two-time winner of the NCAA cross country championship, receives the Honda Award for the second consecutive year.
Flanagan became the first woman ever to win four consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference titles, and completed her second straight undefeated season. In winning the NCAA title, Flanagan covered 6000 meters in 19:30.4. She made school history by winning her fourth Southeast Regional. First at the Pre-Nationals and Great American Festival, she was voted ACC and Southeast Region Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
