Field Hockey Winner and Nominees

The Honda Awards Program is proud to honor Autumn Welsh, field hockey's Top Collegiate Woman Athlete for 2001-2002. She recently helped lead the University of Maryland Terrapins to a 20-4 record, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) crown and a post-season run to the National Championship game. She also tied for the NCAA lead with 16 assists on the season as Maryland's stickstop on penalty corners. Welsh is the first Maryland field-hockey player to win the Honda Award, which she adds to her ACC Co-Player of the Year, ACC Tournament MVP, and NCAA All-Tournament accolades. It's clearly been a busy season for Autumn. Even so, this math/secondary education major found the time to earn a 3.61 GPA.
