Lorrie Fair Lorrie Fair, who played forward, midfield and defense to help lead the University of North Carolina to a 24-2 record and the NCAA soccer championship, has been named winner of the Honda Award. Fair, a senior from Los Altos, Calif., scored three goals and contributed two assists in the NCAA tournament, and was also named the tournament's defensive Most Valuable Player.

The Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, Fair scored eight goals (including three game-winners) and had 10 assists during the regular season. She was the only active collegian on the 1999 U.S. Women's World Cup championship team. Fair is the fifth Tar Heel to win the Honda Award for soccer, following Shannon Higgins (1990), Kristine Lilly (1992), Mia Hamm (1993-94) and Tisha Venturini (1995).
